Turtle
The diversity of environments on Santa Catarina Island provides conditions for abundant fauna. Among the animals that stand out, such as the broad-snouted caiman, the blue crow, the night heron, otters, dolphins, etc., are the sea turtles. Despite not being a species originating from the coast of Santa Catarina, Ilha da Magia is one of the places to visit for these animals to feed. To minimize the predatory effects of fishing on sea turtles in the region, the TAMAR Project, which is a Brazilian conservation project, installed a base in 2005 on Barra da Lagoa beach, 25 km from the center of Florianópolis, on the east coast of the island. .
The project covers an area approximately 1,100 km long, preserving the animals' feeding, resting and especially spawning territories. It is possible to visit the TAMAR base in Florianópolis and learn more about it, in addition to visiting the observation tanks with specimens of sea turtles preserved by the project. In addition to being one of the interesting tourist attractions in Florianópolis, it is an accessible place for the whole family, and a great opportunity to learn about the ecosystem.
